Run DC: November Races (Giveaway)!

Welcome to taper week! In need of distractions, and thoughts of running miles on end. Here’s looking ahead…

Another month, another series of races to test those fast-twitch muscle fibers! Apparently Fall is synonymous with “speed” in the running world, because the list of 5 & 10Ks available in this area is seemingly endless. You definitely have a fair choice of the lengthy ones, too – namely the NYC and Philly Marathons (not local, but you get it) – should you choose them. But today I’m bringing you a list of all the weekend possibilities to run with a smaller crew and with shorter breaths.

Stay tuned – there’s a giveaway in here, too!*

  1. My 10k PR also badly needs an update. My “current” one is from 2008! So let’s say my new goal would be…under 55 minutes. Maybe under 54.

  2. I wish I didn’t live in Southern VA and could do the race! It sounds like a great one!

  3. My 10K PR is an embarrassing 5 years old. I know I can break the 50 minute mark and would love to do so before the end of the year. ~BeckySD

  4. Oooh! My 10K goal is to break an hour. I hit 1:02 at the Clarendon Day 10K and it was hot, so I had to walk. I think in cooler weather I can do it!

  5. My 10 K goal is to finish (while I have finished a half marathon — twice, I have never run a 10 K on purpose — I ran an 8K that was poorly marked in an hour and 15 — the person next to me offered she had run 6.2 miles, and when I tried this summer I suffered my first charley horse right over the starting line and crumpled in pain…) I know I am slow but each at their own ability, right? And it is so close by.
